We've all been juniors once, haven't we?
#Kula_like was established in May 2020 as a voluntary social initiative with over 7,000 members, helping the younger generation navigate the junior paradox and pursue careers in high-tech.
In October 2021, the founders of "Kula-like" launched a development competition, and our project won.
The problem
No dedicated site to assist juniors in their job search journey, no filtering by interests for lectures and workshops, and budget issues add to the challenge.
The challenge
Our team of 22 strangers, who met online, had just one month to research, design, and develop the management system and community website.
The projects goal
Designing a management system and community site quickly and as detailed as we could.
1
Maintaining standards
Ensuring a positive and engaging experience for community managers that rivals well-known management systems.
2
Optimizing the process
Streamlining the process of managing community events, activities, projects and member interactions.
3
Reducing unemployment
With our help, junior job seekers could more easily find their desired positions and shorten their unemployment periods.
DEFINING THE PROBLEM
Our users & their goals
We divided our users' goals into two groups to reflect the two distinct personas.
Community manager
-
Manage tasks efficiently allowing teamwork with stakeholders.
-
Change user permissions.
-
A simple, easy, and convenient system to operate - A clear view of the progress in each project.
-
Receive notifications and reminders about appointments, and task completion dates.
-
Division of tasks according to categories of past, present, future.
Junior job seeker
-
Keep up on the upcoming events (Lectures, workshops).
-
Find professional mentors and book meetings with them.
-
Be notified when new positions are uploaded and share them.
-
Get alerts on the upcoming events
THE SOLUTION
Site map
After defining user goals, we created a combined site map for our two platforms, concluding that it would be easiest to build one platform with the junior website as the main site, allowing managers to access their management system using their credentials.
FINAL DESIGN
Community home screen
The first screen upon entering the site includes all essential information for junior job seekers and access to the user’s profile. From here, users can register or sign in. If they are managers, they will be redirected to the management system through their credentials.
Log in & Sign up
New users can choose their areas of interest in order to see events and jobs regarding them.
Events page
Users can easily find workshops and lectures they are interested in by viewing them in two different displays: List or Calendar.
Job board
Allows the user to filter by domain, job type, area, and free search. Also, every position can be shared on main social networks.
Management system -
Dashboard
This is the main page after entering the management system. Here, community managers can see a dashboard with projects and tasks progress, see their progress, and open new events from the menu on the right.
Management system - Projects page
Community managers with the appropriate permissions can add new projects to the projects page, while all managers can view project progress, priorities, assignees, due dates, summaries, and status.
